OPP Planning Distracted Driver Campaign

OPP Commissioner Chris Lewis says hundreds of motorists have
close calls every day because they text or use their cellphone while driving.
Police say distracted driving was a factor in almost 5,000 collisions on OPP patrolled roads so far this year.
As of July 31st, officers have issued nearly 10,000 tickets
for distraction, more than double the number in 2010.
OPP say they’ll be blitzing distracted drivers for a week,
beginning September 12th.
