OPP Release Details On Highway 17 Collision East Of Upsala

More information is known about the collision on Highway 17 near Upsala before the weekend.

Ontario Provincial Police are saying the collision was 10km east of Upsala and involved 3 vehicles.

Police say investigations revealed that a 4-door vehicle was traveling west and tried to pass a tractor-trailer near the crest of a hill.

Officers then say the car struck the trailer, then the eastbound guardrails, and then colliding with an eastbound SUV.

OPP say the drivers of both vehicles were injured and transported to hospital by EMS.

Police say the passenger of the 4-door vehicle, 26-year-old Christopher Feunkes of Fredericton, New Brunswick was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers say the female driver of the 4-door vehicle, Nywani Albert-Howe was charged with Careless Driving.

OPP add that Highway 17 was closed for approximately 7 and a half hours while the investigations were conducted.
