OPP Report From Canada Day Long Weekend

It was a hectic long weekend for Provincial Police across the region.
In the Dryden area, OPP laid 24 speeding charges and two tickets for improper use of a seat belt.
Across Northwestern Ontario, OPP laid 362 speeding charges, 4 charges for impaired driving, 10 distracted driving charges, and 42 for seat belt violations.
Sergeant Shelley Garr says province wide there were 7,032 speeding charges.
Garr notes that’s a concern and they will address the problem for future long weekends.
Fortunately there were no fatalities or serious crashes in this region, but two people died in car crashes elsewhere in the province.
The OPP urge caution on all roadways, waterways and trails year round.
