Provincial Police training is underway for 10 amalgamated members of the Dryden Police Service.
The four-week training started on February 28 at the OPP Academy in Orillia.
The OPP say the familiar Dryden faces will return to continue their commitment to community safety and well-being in late March.
Meantime, Dryden staff and council recently took time to share their memories and appreciation.
City Manager Roger Nesbitt thanked all civilian and uniformed staff.
“What a dedicated group of employees that the municipality had within the service and that really speaks volumes to how valued the DPS members were as part of the Dryden Police Service organization,” says Nesbitt.
He adds, “I know that those members are moving on to other organizations but I know, without a doubt, that they will be extremely valued employees in any of those organizations that they move to, whether it is the OPP or otherwise.”
Nesbitt stresses, “I really want to wish everyone of our former DPS members the very best in their future endeavours. The entire organization leaves behind an extremely strong legacy and they can be proud of what they’ve done. Not just the former members but throughout the history of DPS.”
He admits its been an emotional time for everyone involved but looks forward to the future.
“I do look forward to moving forward with the OPP, continuing to work with the OPP, and building that relationship that we’ve started to build. At the end of the day we have a common goal of enhancing our community safety and well-being,” notes Nesbitt.
