Opportunity Of A Lifetime For Dryden’s Sydney Allen

Dryden’s Sydney Allen will have plenty of stories to tell when she returns home in the New Year.

The University of Manitoba Athletic Therapy student has been selected to take part in a week long internship with the NHL’s New York Rangers.

Allen is participating in a job shadowing program with the team’s head trainer, where she will get to watch and learn from the pro’s.

She calls the opportunity an amazing experience and is excited to learn more about proper treatment options.

Allen says the head of Athletic Therapist of the Rangers is an U of M alumni, and actually went to school with their program coordinator.

She notes for the past couple of years, he has allowed four students to be selected for the internship.

Allen applied in October and found out a month later that she was successful and also learned she is making the trip with one of her best friends.

She works with the U of M Men’s Hockey team and at the Bisons Clinic.

She also plays in the Manitoba Women’s Junior Hockey League and was recently selected to take part in the League All-Star game.

Allen was featured in Northwest Monitor on Sunday morning.
