The Progressive Conservatives want the Provincial Police to investigate the destruction of government documents relating to the cancelled gas plants by senior Liberal staffers.
Tory Rob Leone says there should be penalties after Ontario’s Privacy Commissioner found staff in former premier Dalton McGuinty’s office broke the law by deleting emails on the cancelled gas plants.
The Tories want to the O-P-P to determine how widespread the
document destruction was and if any of the missing data can be recovered.
N-D-P Leader Andrea Horwath says the report shows it’s “not in the Liberals’ D-N-A” to be transparent or accountable.
Horwath dispute’s Premier Kathleen Wynne’s claims that documents were no longer destroyed once she took over from Dalton McGuinty.
The opposition parties allege the Liberal destroyed the emails to hide the true cost of cancelling the gas plants, now an estimated $585-million.
