The Union representing the LCBO is launching a new ad campaign, targeting the provincial government.
President of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union Smokey Thomas says the goal is to inform the public about what they are bargaining for.
Thomas says that employers are making big changes and it’s making it harder for people to make a living. He adds that more jobs are being classified as part time or temporary as employers with high profits continue to squeeze the people who make those profits possible.
Thomas notes that more then 60% of the LCBO are casual employees, and 70% of them are female.
When it comes down to bargaining, Thomas says LCBO Management is free to say no but they have to go to Queen’s Park to get permission to agree to almost everything.
The strike deadline is May 17th, and Thomas says they really don’t want to but it’s their only option if nothing is done.
