A World-renowned researcher will soon be working with area School
Boards on developing an oral-language program geared towards aboriginal
students.
Janet Wilkenson is the Director of Education for the Keewatin-Patricia
District School Board and says they hope to better prepare young aboriginals
for the start of school.
Wilkenson says the goal is to find out effective teaching methods for
early learners.
The program is expected to be used as a model Province-wide.
This District has the largest aboriginal population in Ontario.
