Organization Cautions The Use Of Flying Lanterns

A Northwestern Ontario organization is raising concerns about flying lanterns in the region.
Susan McLeod is the Executive Director with the Lake of the Woods District Property Owners Association, and says they are a serious risk because people can’t control them.
McLeod says the newest version stays in the air for 20-minutes and it’s hard to tell how far they can travel.
McLeod adds she has photos where the lanterns have landed beside cottages and burned the side of the building.
The association is working with a number of other groups to try and limit the sale of them.
