Ottawa Police Confident One Shooter Involved In Tragic Incident

More information is emerging about the shooter in Wednesday’s attack on Parliament and the death of a soldier at the National War Memorial.
The shooter has been identified as 32-year-old Micheal Zehaf-Bibeau, who converted to Islam a few years back and who changed his name from Micheal Joseph Hall.
He had a privileged upbringing in Laval, Quebec and was privately educated but also had a criminal record for drugs, robberies, a weapons charge and assault causing bodily harm dating back to 2001.
Zehaf-Bibeau underwent a psychiatric assessment before being convicted of another robbery in Vancouver three years ago.
His passport had been seized because he was considered a high risk traveller.
His mother has been with the Immigrant and Refugee Board since 1990 and is now listed as a Deputy Chairperson.
His father is described as a Libyan businessman who may have fought in that country in 2011 at the time of the revolution there.
The lockdown in Ottawa ended overnight after authorities concluded there was only one gunman.
