A court order has appointed a Trustee to operate the once majestic Minaki Lodge, prepare it for sale and then sell it.
The Historic Tourist Centre burned to the ground last October, a little over a year after it was bought by Phil Archer of Calgary.
The cause of the blaze is undetermined.
After the fire, Archer said he didn’t have insurance on the historic building.
He said he didn’t take out a policy because he didn’t believe he needed it and pegged his losses at about $8 million.
Archer owes about $1.8 million to tradespeople in Manitoba and Ontario for renovations that were completed but not paid for.
