Members of Parliament are back in Ottawa for another sitting of the House of Commons.
Kenora MP Eric Melillo says he’s been touring the riding all summer and the number one issue he’s heard is the high cost of living.
“It’s really a difficult position a lot of people are facing right across the country, and our focus is going to be alleviating that and pushing the government to bring forward policies that will help make life more affordable,” Melillo said prior to leaving for Ottawa.
Melillo adds that recent polls also reflect these affordability concerns.
“Polling information has show us just how challenging it has become for people. More and more people are struggling to get by. Many are less than $200 away from insolvency at the end of each month”.
Melillo says the other issue he’s been hearing on local doorsteps is the lack of housing in communities right across his riding.
