Plans to establish a Crematorium behind the Dryden Community Funeral Home have been put on the back-burner for now.
The Funeral Home has requested that Council proceed with a zoning By-law Amendment but is not requesting any consideration for including a crematorium in the area.
Instead, they will focus on additional research and gathering more information and will advise the City when they are ready to bring the project back to the table.
A public meeting on August 13th brought up environmental, health and safety concerns.
The issue was referred to City staff to work with the applicant on identifying other possible locations for the crematorium and to conduct more studies.
Clerk Debra Kincaid provided an update to Council Monday night.
