Pay Raise For Mayor and Council

The Mayor and Councilors in Dryden will be getting a pay raise.
Council approved the increase last night, making a slight alteration to the original recommendations brought forward by a group of local citizens.
Effective December, the top job will pay $20,000/annually while council members will earn $9,000, lower than what was recommended by the group.
All councilors agreed that the Mayor deserves the increase because it is a full time job.
Councilor Val Silver was the only one to not vote in favour of the motion, believing councilors are still underpaid.
The hike keeps Dryden closer to par with other Northwestern Ontario municipalities.
