Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Patrick Brown is taking a shot at Premier Kathleen Wynne and her recent tour of northwestern Ontario.
Brown says she only made the visit because a provincial election is just months away.
He notes his party is holding its Caucus Retreat in Timmins.
Brown says this is the third time in recent memory that the PC’s have held their annual meeting in the north, noting last year it was held in Kenora.
He adds since he took over the party, he has visited the area over 30 times.
Brown says the Liberal government remains oblivious towards the needs of the north.
Brown says he speaks with northern mayors on a daily basis and stresses the message is the same.
He says it’s like the movie ‘Groundhog Day’, noting local leaders complain every year about true grievances and nothing gets done.
He notes Red Lake Mayor Phil Vinet has stated that he’s so frustrated that he sometimes wants to throw the keys to the municipality at the feet of the government so they can take over.
