PC’s Question Heritage Funding Commitments

The Wynne Government is being taken to task for the way it handles funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.

Progressive Conservative critic Norm Miller says Rentech has already closed its Wawa pellet plant and has its Atikokan facility up for sale after receiving $4-million from the program.

He stresses this isn’t the first time this has happened.

Miller says these companies shouldn’t be allowed to walk away without fulfilling the terms of the agreement and he wants to know what the government is doing to collect when companies default on their commitment.

He notes under the PC plan, they will penalize companies that don’t fulfill the terms of the grant program.
