The Ministry of Environment has delivered some bad news to the Town of
Atikokan.
The Province has rejected Peat Resources proposal to
construct a biofuel testing facility at the Atikokan generating plant.
Peat was considered a replacement fuel for the coal fired generating
station and the proposal could have created 200-jobs in the area.
The Province says the company didn’t provide adequate information in
their proposal and Peat Resources brass note the project has just been
delayed.
