Dryden Police are stressing the seriousness of taking any kind of
weapon to school after a report of a student possessing a firearm at New
Prospect School Friday morning.
An investigation revealed a child had a pellet pistol in his backpack
and was returning it to another student.
Police Chief Shayne MacKinnon says no one was in danger or threatened and
the pistol was never used in a dangerous manner.

Any type of weapon, not limited to a firearm, is prohibited from
school property under the Safe Schools Act.
