The family of Peter Reino Jalkanen sadly announces his passing, age 80, after a short illness, Tuesday, April 26th at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Peter will be forever remembered and missed by his loving wife Kathleen, his daughter Beverley Jalkanen-McKiver and husband Victor of Ottawa, step-son Dean Benham and wife Darlene of Minnitaki, step-daughter Melanie Benham, and son-in-law Michael Cassidy of Thunder Bay. Grandchildren: Melody McKiver, David, Caine, Calder and Jed Benham, Riley, Alexis and Brayden Cassidy. Also survived by sister Verna Goriak and husband Joe, of Nanaimo, B.C., sister-in-law Olga Jalkanen of Nipigon, sister-in-law Marion Dunn and brother-in-law Neil Hunter and wife Shirley of Cambridge, Ontario.
According to Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 6th at 1:00 p.m. in Our Saviour Lutheran Church, with Pastor James Wood officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in the Dryden Cemetery.
