The City of Dryden is losing 25% of its compliment of
physicians.
4-doctors have either recently left or announced their intentions to
relocate.
Dryden Regional Health Centre CAO Wade Petranik says doctor shortages across the country are getting worse each year and notes economic uncertainty locally makes it more difficult to attract permanent physicians.
Petranik says they are reviewing the situation to come up with short and long term solutions.
He stresses it’s not a crisis at this point and they are hoping to
attract locums to fill the void.
Petranik notes the Government has to look at changing its payment plans to help small communities recruit physicians.
