The Town of Pickle Lake is engaged in a war of words with the provincial government over its official plan.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is refusing to endorse the strategy over concerns about the old Central Patricia mine site.
Mayor Karl Hopf says the government isn’t allowing any development within 1,000 metres of the mine.
Hopf stresses the provincial red tape is threatening to kill economic development in Pickle Lake.
Hopf says if the government wants to rehabilitate the mine site, they should pay the costs, because it closed down at least 30-years before Pickle Lake was incorporated as a municipality.
