Pikangikum school destroyed by fire

The school on the Pikangikum First Nation was destroyed by fire over the weekend.

Dean Peters is the director of the Pikangikum Education Authority and says the fire broke out Friday night and
gutted the school and damaged several portable classrooms.

He says fortunately other buildings nearby, including the
Education Authority office were spared.

The O.P.P. in sioux Lookout have been brought in to assist the Pikangikum Police with their investation into the cause of the fire.
