Pikangikum Training Centre

Pikangikum First Nation will be home to a new Aboriginal

Training Centre.

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation is

providing almost 49-thousand dollars to the project.

The Provincial government feels the training centre will

promote career development among Aboriginal youth.

The money will be used for the next phase of the

Whitefeather Forest Teaching and Training Centre, which

includes securing partnershp arrangements and completing

an implementation plan.

The Pikangikum First Nation is working with the Ontario

Government to obtain commercial forestry tenure and

stweardship responsibilities on a portion of their

traditional land use area, the Whitefeather Forest.
