Provincial Police say the pilot of a small aircraft was unharmed after he made an emergency landing on Highway 17 near Marathon.

Police say they received a call around 3:00 on Wednesday of a plane blocking traffic on the Trans-Canada.

The aircraft developed a mechanical problem and the pilot had to land on the highway.

The Marathon Volunteer Fire Department and Superior North Emergency Medical Services were also on hand.

The Transportation Safety Board is now investigating.
