PM Appoints Dryden Senator

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has announced the appointment of five new senators, which includes Lynn Beyak of Dryden.
Beyak, originally from Fort Frances,is a small business owner with experience in real estate, insurance and tourism.
Beyak ran provincially in this riding for the Progressive Conservatives, in 1995 where she finished just 200 votes behind Howard Hampton and again in 1999.
Beyak and Victor Oh of Mississauga, who is the president of a property development firm, will fill the Ontario seats.
Doug Black, a senior Calgary lawyer and founding president of the Energy Policy Institute of Canada, takes the Alberta seat.
Denise Batters, a Regina lawyer and a senior figure in the
province’s Crown Investments Corp., will sit for Saskatchewan.
David Wells, until recently the deputy CEO of the
Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board, takes the final open seat.
The appointments take effect immediately.
