Acting Police Chief Kevin Glenister is asking the Dryden Police Services Board to approve a pay hike for jail guards and school crossing guards.
Glenister is requesting a 6% increase this year, followed by an additional hike of 3% in 2012.
That will bring night guard salaries to $17.82 an hour, up from the $16.32.
A report to the Board indicates that OPP guards make in excess of $22 an hour.
Glenister says the hike for school crossing guards would result in salary of $15.59 an hour.
Glenister adds that staff haven’t received a raise in over 3-years.
He says there is room in the budget for the raises, however the Police Board has decided to hold off on a decision until August at the earliest.
