Police Chief Announces His Retirement

Dryden Chief of Police Shayne MacKinnon has announced that he will be retiring on April 30th.
MacKinnon has been the head of the City Force since 2001 but has been with the Police Service since 1981.
MacKinnon says the job is filled with challenges and rewards but stresses its the officers and civilian staff that make the job special.
MacKinnon went on to thank the Police Services Board, Mayor and Council for their support.
He notes the challenges have changed throughout the years as early on issues included alcohol abuse and domestic disputes.
MacKinnon says now the abuse of prescription pills is the major issue.
The Police Services Board hopes to have a new Chief of Police selected early in the new year.
