Population Decline For Kenora District Communities

Most of the major communities in the Kenora District saw a decline in population over the last five years.
According to 2001 Census figures released today by Statistics Canada, only Sioux Lookout and Machin increased in population.
Dryden saw a decrease of one percent, Ear Falls decreased by almost two percent, Kenora fell by three percent, Ignace dropped by four percent and the population of Red Lake fell by 11 percent.
Pickle Lake and Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls had the biggest drops in population, each fell by more than 26 percent.
