The Ministry of Natural Resources Fisheries Management Plan held an open house yesterday in Dryden, regarding changes to angler regulations.
The affected area extends from Quetico Part to North of Kenora, and includes the area south of Dryden.
Lead Biologist Brian Jack Biologist says there will be no changes to walleye fishing.
There will be a change to size limit of Northern Pike, to 0 over 75 centimeters
Bass will see a reduced limit to 4 for sport fish licenses and 2 for conservation licenses and the size limit will be 0 over 35 centimeters from January 1 to June 30.
There is also a proposed reduction of Black Crappie from 15 to 10.
For those who didn’t get a chance to visit the open house, they can stop by their local Ministry of Natural Resources office to provide their input.
Jackson says the next steps are to meet with the advisory council, and based on input see if they have to change any of their advisory actions.
He adds they plan on having a final plan by spring of next year, and any final changes would come in effect by January 2014.
