Staff with the City of Dryden continue to fight an uphill battle.
This winter has been extremely hard on our streets and asphalt and it is becoming really evident at this time.
Chief Administrative Officer Roger Nesbitt is asking for patience as motorists attempt to navigate the slew of potholes around the community.
“This weather is not very conducive to pothole patching. Our crews have been out. We’ve actually contracted some pothole patching on the highway and I think as fast as we can fill those potholes the filler is getting pounded out of the potholes.”
Nesbitt adds, “Drive slow. Drive with caution. Just be very careful because lot’s of drivers like to avoid the potholes and that’s always not conducive to safe driving practices. So just slow down, be aware of the potholes and try not to dodge them.”
Public Works Manager Blake Poole says the conditions have caused nothing but headaches as they struggle to fill potholes.
“The temperatures fluctuating so much between above zero and below zero does do a real number to our roads. And then we get rain on top of that or slush and everything and it really affects our roadways and not very good ways.”
Poole stresses Dryden isn’t alone as most municipalities in the northwest are experiencing the same problem.
