Premier McGuinty says he’ll let the Ontario Labour Relations
Board decide if tomorrow’s planned walkout by public elementary teachers is a strike or a protest.
The self-proclaimed education premier says the province will go to the board seeking a cease-and-deist order in an effort to prevent the teachers’ protest of Bill 115.
Education Minister Laurel Broten used the controversial
legislation on January 3rd to impose collective agreements on 126,000 public school teachers and education workers. The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario insists it’s not a strike, but a one-day political protest that’s protected under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
