Premier Dalton McGuinty says the province hasn’t forgotten about the forest industry in Northern Ontario.
McGuinty made his first visit to the Kenora-Rainy River Riding this Spring and says his government is committed to helping out communities hit hard by the downturn in the forest sector.
He adds that the province continues to work with forest companies and the Grassy Narrows First Nation on a new Cooperative Forest Licence for the Whiskey Jack Forest.
The province had hoped to have a License in place by the beginning of April, but there’s still been no word as to when an agreement can be finalized.
