Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty was in Dryden this morning to address the Wildfire crisis in the Northwest.
The Premier met with MNR Fire officials at the Regional Fire Centre at the Dryden Airport, and then made a quick stop to visit evacuees at Dryden High School, before leaving for Thunder Bay.
In speaking with media, McGuinty said there was no need to declare a “state of emergency” at this time as the situation was being dealt appropriately.
Yesterday, Kenora MPP Howard Hampton, former NDP Leader and a former Minister of Natural Resources in the Rae NDP Government, called on the Province to declare a State of Emergency, saying MNR and Hydro One had underestimated the scope of the fire situation.
