Preparing First Nations Youth For Mining Industry

Fourteen students from Webequie First Nation are one step closer to working in the mining industry.
Cliffs Natural Resources and Oshki Education and Training Institute teamed up to offer a Mining Essentials Training Program.
Oshki Executive Director Rosie Mosquito says the students were able to learn about what it’s going to be like to work in the mining industry.
Mosquito says Cliffs has made a commitment that there will be an intent to hire for the Ring of Fire project.
The students took part in 240-hours of classroom learning and 120-hours of hands-on work.
