Press Play: ‘Sterling Point’ might be your next best watch

If you’re looking for a coming-of-age show with an eye-catching love triangle and a compelling mystery, then Sterling Point might be for you.

The series released on Aug. 5 on Amazon Prime Video but is still trending in the No. 3 spot in Canada.

The show follows Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin), who sets off to a distant island that she and her twin brother, Connor (Keen Ruffalo), inherit after her estranged grandfather passes away. She originally embarks on this journey to learn more about her family’s hidden past, but soon realizes there’s a web of secrets that has been kept tucked away all her life.

After watching the full season, I think writer and director Megan Park accurately portrays the Gen Z life in a fresh and captivating way. According to a CBC article, Park notes that her “characters are complex, vulnerable and flawed, with a story inviting you into a world that feels familiar.”

The reason I fell in love with the series is how natural the interactions feel and how easily I could relate to Annie.

If you’re a proud Canadian, you’re going feel good about this. The show’s fictional location, Sterling Point, is set right down in Muskoka. Seeing your own country represented on screen is something that never gets old.

Currently, the show holds a 91 per cent critics score and an 84 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

So, will you be watching Sterling Point this fall?
