Priority List Drafted for MTO

The City of Dryden is hoping to form a cooperative partnership with the Ministry of Transportation in order to secure future ‘Connecting Link’ funding.
Dryden has always struggled to secure the maximum amount of Provincial funds.
Director of Public Works and Engineering Mike Louttit says his top priority is improving Duke Street, from the base of the overpass, to the High School.
Louttit says the major project is installing a valve beneath a section of Duke to fix flooding issues that have plagued homes and businesses near the Masala Restaurant and the Car Wash.
He notes surface upgrades also need to be made on Duke.
Louttit notes that project will go ahead even if the City doesn’t receive Connecting Link funding.
Louttit says another priority is paving Highway 17 through the City.
The City of Dryden is still hoping to keep the $600,000 it saved on upgrades to the Duke Street Overpass.
Councilor Brian Collins says its highly unlikely the Province will allow Dryden to keep the Connecting Link funding, noting it would set a dangerous precedent.
