Proposed Cat By-law in Sioux Lookout

A by-law aimed at controlling cats at large in Sioux Lookout has passed first reading.
Under the new rules, identification tags would be required and residents would need to clean up after their cats and stop them from wandering the streets.
Town CAO John Baird says the by-law is not etched in stone as public input is being sought.
A public meeting will be scheduled next month to discuss the issue.
Baird says the by-law is in response to the number of complaints staff have been receiving.
In the draft, ID tags were listed at $10 and violations carried a $10-$20 a day fine.
