Premier Doug Ford has acted to reduce emergency room over-crowding at Ontario hospitals.
Ford says he is making an immediate investment of $90-million to get rid of hallway medicine.
That amounts to an additional 1,100 beds for the upcoming flu season.
On top of that, Ford is promising to open another 6,000 beds towards their goal of 15,000 over 5 years and 30,000 over 10-years.
We’re taking immediate action to end hallway health care by adding 6,000 new long-term care beds across Ontario. We’re going to help relieve pressure on hospitals and long-term care homes, allow doctors and nurses to work more efficiently and provide better, faster care. #onpoli pic.twitter.com/KZbZ0yXXzu
