The provincial government is moving to restrict how much hospitals can charge for parking.
Health Minister Eric Hoskins has announced a number of changes including a three year freeze on hospital parking rates.
Hoskins says after the three years, rate increases can be no more than the rate of inflation.
Starting October 1st, hospitals that charge over $10 per day will be required to have five, ten and thirty day parking passes at 50% of the daily rate.
Hoskins is also asking hospitals, charging less than $10, to consider parking discounts to frequent patients and visitors.
He’s calling on them to consult with users on any changes to parking.
