Province Establishes Northern COVID Team

The Ford government has restructured the way it handles COVID-19 decisions across the province.

An Ontario Health North Regional Steering Committee has been set-up to identify local needs, gaps, opportunities and concerns.

Dryden Regional Health Centre Chief Executive Officer Doreen Armstrong-Ross says the group is made up of nine separate sub-committees.

-Emergency Department Physician Network
-Home and Community Care Expansion
-Hospital and Long Term Care Capacity Planning
-Non-Hospital Care (Primary Care, EMS and others)
-Critical Care Expansion
-Supplies
-Public Health
-Ethics
-Emergency Planning

All local and regional decisions would have to follow the direction of the Ontario government.

The Co-Chair’s for the regional group are Rhonda Crocker Ellacott, the Chief Executive Officer of the North West and North East LHIN’s as well as Health Sciences North President and Chief Executive Officer Dominic Giroux.
