Province Extends Gas/Fuel Tax Cuts

A reduction in gasoline and fuel taxes made this summer will continue until the end of 2023.

Legislation being introduced today (Monday) will extend a 5.7 cents a litre cut on the gas tax and 5.3 cents on the fuel tax.

Premier Doug Ford says keeping them in place will save the average household $195.

Ford says this move will help as the inflation rate remains high.

“From gas to grocery’s prices are higher and that’s putting real pressure on household budgets. The fact is people need a little bit of help.”

The NDP’s Interim leader Peter Tabuns says the Premier should be helping people afford basics like food and heating instead of a tax cut that won’t guarantee drivers any savings.
