The provincial government is seeking ideas to increase housing and make homes more affordable.
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark says there will be a housing summit next month where they will be meet with municipalities to discuss how this can be done.
“What success looks like is that we have an honest conversation, on what the province needs to do to make sure that more housing gets built to deal with our housing supply process,” explains Clark.
Clark hopes to find out what the province can do, but also what municipalities are doing to increase housing stock.
“A very honest collaborative conversation between municipalities and the province. If there are things I need to improve upon if there are things municipalities need to improve upon, which I think we all agree there is, that’s what success looks like. That we have a collaborative meeting and a plan moving forward.”
Clark says the province will also be meeting with small, rural communities in January to find out their ideas on improving the housing situation.
