Premier Kathleen Wynne is giving the Regional Research Institute over $4-million to fund research projects and to support the cyclotron that makes medical isotopes.
Speaking in Thunder Bay, Wynne says the money may be spent in the North but the results from it will be felt across the province.
The government says the money will help the Institute fund cancer research projects, buy equipment used for early cancer detection and cancer treatment itself.
Acting CEO Roxanne Deslauriers there will be 29 jobs created in a wide range of areas.
