Province Looking At Expanded Spring Bear Hunt

The Minister of Natural Resources wants to extend the spring bear hunt for another five years.

The province is proposing an extension that would include all 88 wildlife management units and not just a select few.

Bill Mauro says it’s needed legislation as nuisance bear reports continue to pour in.

Mauro understands that not everyone is in favour of the hunt but believes it’s become a safety issue in the north.

If approved, the hunt would also be open to non-residents.
