The Ontario government wants to make its justice system fairer and faster.
New measures include the hiring of more judges, assistant crown attorneys and court staff.
Attorney General Yasir Naqvi says improvements will be made to the bail program, including the development of a new program specific to Indigenous offenders.
He says low risk offenders awaiting trial will be able to stay in their home community, include remote First Nations.
The province is also setting up a 20-bed program in Thunder Bay for offenders on bail without a home to go to.
