Ontario’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change stresses the government remains committed to working with Grassy Narrows and White Dog First Nations to clean-up the English-Wabigoon River system.
Chris Ballard is responding to opposition calls that the Liberals aren’t doing enough to address mercury contamination.
Ballard says they are working with the two communities in an open and transparent manner.
Ballard says they are sharing scientific data, inviting people on-site and listening to the needs and concerns of the impacted communities.
He adds the Liberals have earmarked 85-million for remediation efforts.
Ballard says the end goal is to achieve real progress that will create prosperous, healthy and strong communities.
