The Province’s electoral system was under the microscope Monday night
as the Citizens Assembly on Electoral Reform held a community consultation
in Dryden.
The group is touring Ontario trying to determine if changes need to be
made to the current system.
A small yet outspoken group of Dryden residents voiced their opinion.
Some in attendance advised the Assembly that switching to an alternative
vote where voters indicate a first, second and third choice would be a good way to go.
Others in the crowd simply said education and getting people out to
vote are the biggest problems right now.
The Assembly will make recommendations to the Province next year and
proposed change to the system will be put to a referendum.
Wabigoon resident Julia Craner sits on the Assembly.
