Provincial Budget Opposition

Ontario’s opposition parties say today’s (Wednesday) Provincial budget is aimed more at getting the Liberals re-elected this fall than in helping families.
Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak says even though the budget does not contain any new taxes or tax increases, spending is up 70% in eight years while the economy grew only 9%.
He says the Liberals are on track to double Ontario’s debt, and believes spending is so high that higher taxes will soon follow.
The New Democrats also complain that the Liberals put themselves ahead of families who are struggling with rising taxes and soaring electricity bills.
Leader Andrea Horwath says the Liberals used their budget
to try to “save their bacon” in the October election instead of giving people a break.
Horwath also mocked the Liberals for expanding a breast cancer screening program after closing a breast cancer clinic in London and forcing women to fight for drugs to combat breast cancer.
The New Democrats are also worried about what they see as a
budget move to open the door to “American-style private delivery” of government services.
