Provincial Funding To Improve Transporation

The City of Dryden has received $100,000 over two years to improve transportation in the area.

A project is being launched on a local level to determine transportation needs, but Mayor Craig Nuttall says the money will be used to strengthen Handi-Transit.

Nuttall says they need a strong transportation system for seniors and those with disabilities.

The money comes from the Provincial Community Transportation Pilot Grant Program and ensures more rides can be provided to more people, and to more destinations.

Nuttall says the issue of who will operate Handi-Transit down the road is still being reviewed.

Last November, the Handi-Transit Board asked the City to take over full control of the service.
