Provincial Funds To Boost Skilled Trades

The provincial government is trying to address a shortage in the skilled trades field.

Labour Minister Monte McNaughton says $37 million has been promised for skilled trades training.

He notes this money will help 15,000 people gain the skills they need to find good jobs or retrain for a new career.

McNaughton says they will also be spending $450,000 to attract more women into the field.

“These jobs are meaningful and well paying but too often they go to men. We need to change that.”

McNaughton notes there’s a critical shortage of workers in the trades industry right now.
